Summary from author: Severus Snape's long journey through a horrific and abusive childhood to Hogwarts, Voldemort and finally, the Order, and how he finally found the light in a lifetime of darkness.

Obligatory Gushing: This fic details Snape's entire childhood and shows (at times graphically) the abuse that he withstood.  The detail and effort diamond_ravenputs into this fic is amazing.  This is the first of the Path series and is quite long.  She gives us a very good pov of the darkness that is a part of Snape and takes the reader on a roller coaster of emotions, angst, and every kind of dark and light out there.  You quite literally feel so much aching and love for her Snape.  We get to see how Severus Snape learns to become a Slytherin, in mind and body.  The transformation he undergoes is heartening and you just want to cuddle and comfort him throughout the stories.  He's definitely on the "light side" in this fic, but you get to see all of the hardwork he puts into being a double agent and the terrible struggle he had to overcome to remain on that "light side".  There is a lot of psychological interplay in this fic, dealing with psych manipulation by Voldie and the deatheaters and Sev's own family.  He's been put through the grinder and gone through every awful obstacle that we could probably put him through, and the results are what diamond_raven is showing us now, a somewhat broken and worse for wear Snape, but still as cunning, as smart, as strong, and as brave as he ever was.  

Warnings: Drug abuse (plays a large role in the series and is brilliantly displayed), rape (a necessary part of the beginning of the story and if it squicks you, skimming past the rape scenes will not affect the plot of the story itself.  She has warnings up for every chapter so you know what you're getting yourself into.  The rape is not the main focus of the story and only features in a small part of it.  I highly recommend that you do not skip out on reading this story just because of the rape alone.), and violence (DE meetings and the war).
